Hello.

Adam Deer, smiling and looking off to one side, in a black and white portrait.

I’ve spent 20 years leading creative for brands including Microsoft, SAP, Aflac, Optum and Alaska Airlines. Much of my work has come when a brand is experiencing some sort of change: a merger, a rebrand or a new product people need to understand. I find the idea that can hold the story together, then build a system that carries it across the brand.

I start with people. A bank can help someone start a business, and health care can help someone stay healthy enough to do the things they care about. Those human reasons give the creative work somewhere real to begin.

On the side, I run The Big Bad Good, a small studio building custom AI tools for teams, including a script-to-edit agent for video production.

How I lead

  • Clear standards, room to play.

I set the brand rules early, then give teams room to push ideas without losing the thread.

  • Grow people, not just the work.

I’ve built and mentored creative departments, from art directors and designers to other creative directors. I help people develop their own point of view and do their strongest work.

  • Make more in-house.

At GreenRubino, I brought imagery, retouching, video, voiceover, music, motion and editing in-house. We had more control over the work and relied less on outside vendors.

  • Use new tools with a purpose.

I built an agency-wide AI toolkit with more than 20 custom GPTs and trained the creative team to use it. The aim was better work, produced faster, with the brand standards intact.

Experience

I started out as an art director at Creature in 2007, followed by WongDoody and five years at Publicis, where I led creative as the creative director on Aflac. From there, I moved into creative director roles at Hey and Indigo Slate, picked up freelance work with Designit and Neon Afternoon, then spent over 2 years leading creative and innovation at GreenRubino. Currently, I build custom AI systems with my business, The Big Bad Good.
